emergency call

I have heard about the dangerous nature of the round-campus area, but I always thought that the territory of the campus is safe. However, it is open, so I dunno what I thought. From the very beginning we were told not to take walks alone, either make use of the escort sevices provided by the Campus safety or use the shuttle bus if we need to go somewhere. Hartford is the second poorest city in the States, and the capus itself, according to even some local peopel, is in the middle of a ghetto. well, there are some "interestingly" looking houses in the neighborhood, however, I belive that there are people of vicious will in hte best neighborhoods, as well.
Anyway, we received a note form the director of cmapus safety that reported on an incident on capus: a girl was insulted by a most allegedly fellow college student while she was crossing the parking lot. Fortunately, she had no serious injuries, but still. Sadly, this incident must be connected to the presence of alcohol on campus. Mine is the only dorm, in which alcholic bevereages can be kept, drunk, etc. This is an over-21 dorm, however, I do find soft-cups in other buildings of campus after a long night of partying!

I realized another phanomenon, which is rather ear-tearing (if there is a word like that at all, I'm sorry). This is the first time that I am exposed to the American young people's vulgarity. Of course, I have heard peole cursing before, but if I should tell you how many times I have heard the f-word and its variants in just the last two days, you would be surprised, too. I mena, I am not a hypocritical person, I do swear, it's just the density of curses which sort of bug my ear!

I am anjoying my classes yet. The French is kinda interesting. for there are quite a couple of words that I do know form previous studies, I opften realize during the lesson that in my head I am using three languages: Hungarian, English and French. a whole lotta conversations in one head! :)

wednesday is the audition for the play. today Michael, the director, whose class I visited last week, shouted at me from the window this afternoon while I was browsing my letters. FIrst I did not realize that he was calling after me, but after I heard my name I looked p, and there he was. he was so kind to ask, whether I am coming to the audition! I will!!!! I would so much like to get into the play! so, keep your fingers crossed for me!
